A cough drop with a flag

Where does it come from?

Em‑eukal – the famous green herbal drop with the flag!

Nur echt mit der Fahne!

The white and red flag is an inseparable part of Em‑eukal.

"Nur echt mit der Fahne" - only the original and genuine product comes with the flag! The white and red flag sticking out of the wrapper is an inseparable part of Em‑eukal.

A green sweet wrapper, black writing and a white and red flag – these are the hallmarks of the Em‑eukal herbal drop. The flag in particular is now inseparably linked to the Em‑eukal brand. It is not only an identifying feature but also stands for high quality, unique flavour and confidence in our brand. By the way, the piece of paper is made from a recyclable material which can be disposed of in recyclable refuse. And it has its very own story...

The first datable Em‑eukal flag was made in 1927. And the flag has been a firm component of our herbal drops from 1934 at the latest. From the 1950s onwards, the flag consisted of two separate flaps. If you pulled these apart, you could open the sweet wrapper without having to touch the sweet with your fingers. That was important because at this time, doctors were prescribing the Em‑eukal herbal drops to the miners in the Ruhr area of Germany to help with their silicosis and bronchial complaints. Thanks to the flag, it was possible to unwrap the sweet hygienically despite having dirty hands.

From 1999, the flag took on a new look and two red stripes were added to the edge. Since 2001, there has been just the one flap. But the red stripes remain. And with them, a distinctive white and red feature. A hallmark to this day. And a hallmark you can still find on every Em‑eukal product, from our herbal drops and Gumdrops to our "Frische Pastillen" and the Kids Em‑eukal products.
